The Channahon PTO Fund Fest is an essential fundraiser that will help us to continue to have FREE, fun, family events, field day shirts, art frames, teacher reimbursement, and so much more for the next two years. We rely solely on donations and still have quite a way to go to reach our goal. We appreciate every donation, no matter the size.

Our 5th graders are becoming junior scientists as they test different materials to see which ones conduct electricity! 🔬💡 Through hands-on experimenting, students will make predictions, test their ideas, and discover which materials help electricity flow. Science is shocking—in the best way! 😊

Art Club - Just a reminder, Art Club will be held today after school in the art room until 3:45pm.
Soccer - The Channahon Soccer team completed their season on a high winning their last 2 games. Last Thursday the Indians played Coal City and won 3-1. The Indians ended their year well. Congratulations to the team that never quit, even when winning came so late in the season!
Wacky Fact Wednesday! - It's time for Wacky Fact Wednesday! Did you know crocodiles can’t stick out their tongues? Their tongues are held in place by a special membrane. So if you ever get into a staring contest with a crocodile, feel free to stick your tongue out at him. He literally can’t do anything about it. Well… except eat you. So maybe don’t do that.

This week’s Thursday Thought connects yesterday’s Crew celebration with the first few words of the Constitution: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…”
Those words remind us that building something great takes everyone working together and doing their part to make their community better. So, what if we changed those famous words to “We the People of TRS…”? What can YOU do today to help make our school community “more perfect” than it was yesterday?

Cross Country - The Channahon Cross Country team had a phenomenal showing against Minooka, Troy, Dirksen, St. Ray's, and Elwood last night.

Our students have been enjoying a wonderful firsthand look at the life cycle of a butterfly! They’ve watched with excitement as a tiny caterpillar grew, formed a chrysalis, and began its amazing transformation.

Students in the Math and Science Club are putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to work by building and racing their very own hovercrafts! Using science, math, and engineering principles, students are designing, testing, and improving their robots to see how well they can glide across different surfaces. This hands-on project gives students the opportunity to experiment, work as a team, and have fun while exploring STEM concepts in action.
Today is Patriot Day. We remember and honor the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001.
The first Tower was struck at 8:46 a.m. EDT. In memory, Channahon 17 will hold a collective moment of silence at 8:46am CDT, once all students are in school. All flags are at half-staff, and age appropriate lessons will be held in our schools.

Fall Musical - Any 5th grade students interested in auditioning for the fall musical, Alice in Wonderland, can now sign up for auditions. Students should email Ms. Keenon to receive the audition materials. Act fast, auditions are on Wednesday and Thursday. Ms. Keenon's email is hkeenon@csd17.org.
Cyborgs Robotics Team - Try out for the Channahon Cyborgs Robotics Team. Tryouts will be Wednesday, September 9, from 6-8 PM in the TRS commons. There are 30 spots available on the team and tryouts are open to 6th-8th graders. Sign up in the commons or with Mrs. Hodapp.
