Dear Channahon 17 Families,

As we approach the end of another school year, this season gives us many reasons to reflect. Memorial Day, America’s 250th birthday, graduation season, and the final days of school all remind us of a shared theme: honoring the past while looking ahead to the future.

Memorial Day gives us an important opportunity to remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy each day. I encourage our families to take time this weekend to reflect on the meaning of the day with your children and honor those who gave all in service to our nation. We are truly grateful to all who have served.

That same spirit of gratitude will be reflected in our graduation ceremony this year as we pause to recognize and honor those who made those freedoms possible. As we celebrate our graduates and this important milestone in their lives, it is especially meaningful to remember that the opportunities before them are made possible through the service and sacrifice of others. Their contributions have helped shape 250 years of our nation’s story.

Throughout the month of May, students and staff have also taken part in activities connected to this historic milestone, building appreciation for our nation’s history, founding ideals, and those who have served. These experiences help students understand their place in a larger story while considering the role they will play in shaping what comes next.

As we close the school year, we also celebrate the many accomplishments of our students. From our youngest learners to our graduates, in classrooms, on stages, and on athletic fields, students have worked hard, grown, and reached important goals. There is much to be proud of, and we are grateful for the dedication of our staff and the continued partnership of our families in making this year so successful.

With every ending comes a new beginning, and we celebrate all that has been accomplished, while looking ahead with hope for what is to come. Thank you, as always, for your support of Channahon 17 throughout the year. Congratulations again to our graduates, and best wishes to all of our students and families for a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer.

With Gratitude,
