✨ We’re continuing our “Why” series with Emy Diaz, our new 4th grade teacher at Pioneer Path, who shares what inspired them to do what they do.
"My 'why' is simple, I grew up in this district! I went to Channahon for K-8 and it was such a positive experience that gave me endless opportunities for leadership and personal growth. I chose to teach here because I want to pass that exact same love of learning and sense of community on to the next generation of kids."
We're so glad to have you at CSD17! Thanks Emy!
We've got your items here at the Lost and Found located right outside the Office.
When students in Ms. Diaz's class use this signal, they're showing they had the same thought as a classmate. They’re doing more than agreeing—they’re actively listening, making connections, and thinking alongside one another.
It’s a small classroom routine that sends a big message: I’m listening. I’m thinking. I’m connecting. 💡✨
We love seeing strategies like this that turn student discussion into shared learning!
"Don't write on your desk!" isn't something you'll hear in Mrs. Truesdale's class! 🤣
Students are writing compound sentences on their dry-erase tables - making learning and writing fun, efficient, and engaging!
We’re excited to introduce a new series sharing the “why” behind our educators—the people who inspire, encourage, and make a difference in the lives of our students.
✨This week we highlight Brenna Luebbing, Reading Specialist at Pioneer Path.
"My decision to become a teacher came from the influence of my Grammy Ferris. She was a teacher and instilled in all of her grandkids that knowledge is power. She used to have us all over for little summer school sessions where we would do learning activities and "fieldtrips" to learn about the world around us. She was always reading us books and no doubt inspired my love for reading. At 97, she still writes letters to some of her students who are well into adulthood! She has made a lasting impact on so many of her students' lives and I wanted to be able to make that same impact."
Thank you Brenna for being an inspiration to us all!
