Peter and John

On Tuesday Sept. 30, Pioneer Path Elementary welcomed back two very special visitors: John and Peter Konjevich, former students of Channahon Schools who returned to walk the hallways that helped shape their early years.

Peter, a proud graduate of the Class of 1947, shared heartfelt memories of his days in Channahon classrooms and pointed out the differences in the original building compared to when he was a child. Both brothers recounted stories of classmates and the small-town spirit that defined his education. They shared stories with staff of laughter, lessons, and friendships that have endured through the decades.

As the Konjevich brothers looked around at the bright, colorful, and modern learning spaces filled with students, they reflected on how far education has come and how wonderful teachers and those who serve in schools truly are.

This visit reminded us that we do 'stand on the shoulders of giants'. The Konjevich brothers, their classmates, and the generations before them are the foundation and continue to shape this community. Now, they hope today’s students will feel that same pride in community as they build their own futures. The visit from John and Peter Konjevich was not only a moment of nostalgia but also a powerful reminder that every lesson, every story, and every student adds to the living history of Channahon 17 Schools.
