The Section 504 process is used to identify students who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, such as learning, reading, concentrating, communicating, or performing daily tasks. When a student qualifies, the district works collaboratively with parents and school staff to develop a Section 504 Plan outlining reasonable accommodations and supports needed for the student to access and participate in school successfully. The goal of the process is to ensure that each eligible student receives an equitable educational experience and the opportunity to make meaningful progress in school.
