FROM
OUR PRINCIPAL
I want to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to what I am sure will be an exciting year. The entire staff at Pioneer Path and N.B. Galloway School is looking forward to working with you, as partners, in your child’s education. We have worked hard over the summer making improvements to our building, as well as looking at the curriculum and instruction we provide to our youngest students. We are confident we will deliver an exceptional year to you and your children. Our focus last year was on Differentiated Instruction. Teachers received a great deal of training throughout the year and we were fortunate to send many elementary teachers to the Differentiated Instruction conference held in Chicago over the summer. We are excited to continue to improve our service to students by differentiating to meet all of the students’ needs. We are also ready to begin transitioning from the Illinois State Standards to the new Common Core Standards. Teachers have all been given the new standards and will be aligning the curriculum to meet the demands of the Common Core. The new standards can be found on the Illinois State Board website should you wish to view them.
I also want to take the opportunity to welcome Mrs. Kathy Bisch. Mrs. Bisch is the new Assistant Principal at Pioneer Path. She will be housed in that building and be available to parents of students who attend Pioneer Path. Should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call Mrs. Bisch. I will be spending the majority of my time at Galloway School but will be traveling to Pioneer Path occasionally to assist Mrs. Bisch, the students and teachers. Should you need to get in touch with me, please call Galloway School and speak with Mrs. Sprouse or Mrs. Lasinis the secretaries.
As always, good communication is an important aspect of education. Students and parents should feel free to come to the office with questions, problems, and/or concerns. Be sure to look for our “Pioneer Path Presents…” and “Galloway Gazette” newsletter as well as newsletters from your child’s teacher and other communications. You can also check the district website www.channahon.will.k12.il.us, for district information.
In order for all of us to live and work peacefully, we need to set some guidelines to follow. You will receive the district handbook as well as the Pioneer Path and N.B. Galloway supplement from your child’s teacher. Please be sure to become familiar with the rules and procedures included in those handbooks. The safety and well being of our children is very important and we appreciate your support!
We are all looking forward to another great year and encourage you to be involved in your child’s education as we all work together to “Build World Class Thinkers.”
